The importance of a proper Spring Clean-up

If you want your landscape to look it's best this year, follow these steps so your trees and plants can make the healthy transition from winter to spring.  It will help insure your beds look great, decrease weekly maintenance and insure your trees and shrubs thrive this growing season.

EDGING
Define all beds with a deep edge.  Nothing looks better than a landscape with clearly defined beds.  This important step adds definition and gives your property a manicured, crisp look.  It also removes weeds, encroaching lawn and accumulated debris.

CUT BACK SEASONAL PLANTS
Cut back all seasonal perennials and ornamental grasses.  This gives your plants a fresh start while providing needed air and light to promote healthy growth.

PRUNE
Trim and shape trees and shrubs to control and maintain shape and encourage healthy growth.  It helps plants stay nice and full, while also stimulating colorful flowering.

ASSESS
Early spring is a great time to assess trees, shrubs and perennials for overall health.  It makes sense to try and identify any potential emerging problems before they cause unwanted damage.

FERTILIZE
This is the time to fertilize your plants with a broad spectrum, high quality tree and plant fertilizer.  This gives your plants the necessary nutrients they can't get from the existing soil.  It helps plants green up, encourages vigorous growth, strengthens roots and promotes abundant flowering.

WEED CONTROL
Early spring is when an application of a pre-emergent weed control is most beneficial.  While weeds will always find a way into your landscape, a chemical weed control will help combat most of those unwanted, invasive visitors.

MULCH
Applying mulch is one of the best things you can do for your landscape to keep it looking it's best.  Topdress your beds with a premium, triple ground dyed mulch to give beds a season long manicured and finished appearance.  It helps highlight plants and improve overall garden health by minimizing weeds, conserving moisture, and insulating roots from temperature fluctuations.  Dyed mulch prevents beds from quickly turning gray by providing long lasting color.

These steps are essential to prepare your landscape for a healthy, beautiful upcoming landscape season.  It's a tough job for the do-it yourselfer, but it can be done.  But the best way to get it done properly and professionally is to put our expertise to work for you.
